I know it’s not how you thought it would be, no whips, no chains, just dancing.

Tejas Boys

Oi Yall! In honor of Tyler’s triumphant return to keeping us updated, I shall attempt the same. So I just got back from visiting Rob in Texas. Perhaps the photo gave it away. I had a fantastic time. The travel was the only real letdown. I left on Wednesday the 27th and was to arrive in Shreveport, LA where Rob would be waiting in his stellar green Windstar. My flight got delayed in Memphis from a 1:00 pm departure to a 7:00 pm departure. “pm”, in case you were wondering, stands for post-modernism. Anyway, I waited until 7:00 only to be put on a plane and sit for 30 minutes. At this point I was removed from the plane and was forced to board another plane into Houston where I would then reroute to Shreveport. I ended up getting to my destination at 10:00 instead of 3:00.

I went out with Rob every night I was in Texas and had a great time. We did Karaoke the first night. Went to a party at the home of what appeared to be a gypsy the second night. I guess she might have just been a fan of jewelry and tights. Real artsy folks these Texans. Watched Rob’s Movie Skipping Tomorrow the third night (which is excellent by the way) and went to a post premier party at the home of some hippie/skater guys. I impressed the locals with my knowledge of Tv On The Radio and obscure Modest Mouse. Rob and Mindy made their way home for what I assume, based on other nights, was a rather vocal roll in the hay while I stayed out until 5:00 and at some point lost my phone. I have since purchased a new one and have gotten most numbers back with the help of Aaron. On Saturday I played some Mario Strikers Charged with Rob which was fun enough for us to both purchase the game within one day of my departure. I watched the movie two more times and then went drinking at the “pimps and hos” party. Nothing like a bunch of 19-20 year olds in their underwear and a free keg.

So what am I getting at? I guess, Tyler, consider Texas. I enjoyed it thoroughly. You would be within 2 hours of Rob, which would make it easier on Aaron and I. I can’t speak for Alabama. A guy I sat next to on one flight spoke well of it and he seemed to be a straight-shooter as most southerners are. My only real regret from my trip was that I was unable to convince Texas to back Obama. Ah well.

Some Media Mentions:
· The song I quoted is Satan Said Dance by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
· The new Mike Doughty is a supreme let down. He’s writing less and less for himself and more for some bizarre pop ideal.
· Juno soundtrack and Once soundtrack are nice listens. Once is pretty, Juno is happy.
· Shannon, you were right, Bon Iver is fantastic.
· Go Check out the trailer for Pineapple Express. Seth Rogen doing wire stunts + M.I.A.!

That was one goddamn helluva show.

Times, times are good.  Today is the little brother’s birthday.  He’s the big 24.  I spent the weekend in cities with Brian and Shannon.  What a grand time we had.  I am always in good spirits with them.  There were many good meals and events to partake in.  We ran the coffee table at the Red Ribbon Ride kickoff party.  That is looking to be a good time.  There Will Be Blood was fantastic.  It was, and continues to be, mesmerizing.  Ali’s flight back from Seattle (the main reason I was in the cities) got delayed and I didn’t return to Sioux Falls until 2:00 a.m. on Monday morning.  How about that Barack Obama win on Saturday?  Good stuff indeed.  Although he can can come off as an asshole I’m told ;)  I wish I had new music to suggest but I can’t claim to know of any.  I demand more information from all of you.  The End.

Yeah, they said that would happen in Health Class.

the johnce
Many things are happening currently. Professionally, my company’s new site is up. Go check it out. I’m pretty proud of it being as I designed it and helped a little with the development. My brother is now in Buenos Aires. He arrived this morning and sends word that the ladies are muy bueno. My cousin Ashley is pregnant. Brandon Johnson (the johnce) gave me the most thoughtful Christmas present a friend could give. It’s one thing to make a present for someone. It’s an entirely different thing to grow said present on your face. Kudos to you Brandon and your now nonexistent beard. It made my season. So those are the things that are happening around me. Directly, not much is new. I put Leopard on my Mac. It’s cool but not all that amazing yet. I should probably spend more time analyzing it. I hope to see you all soon. Laters, Mike
